Dr. McCarthy has been my dentist since I was in high school. He extracted my impacted wisdom teeth painlessly. I always marvel at how relatively painless it is to get a novacaine shot because my prior dentist had hurt me when he gave me shots. I had no idea it could be painless until I saw Dr. McCarthy. I have had several fillings and 4 crowns, all done painlessly and efficiently.

Dr. McCarthy is also now my son's dentist, and I have referred many friends to him as well.

I highly recommend Dr. McCarthy to everyone I know. In fact, I carry his business card in my purse so I can give it to people when they complain about their current dentist or say they are looking for a new dentist. The fact that he treats both adults and children (including orthodontic work in many cases) makes him very appealing to families.

You can't get better than "Dr. Mark." I have been taking my children there for years. My oldest son has autism. Dr. Mark worked slowly, diligently, and very "FUN"ly with my son over a period of time. My son has now gone from not wanting to walk into the dentist office to being able to have all his teeth cleaned, X-rayed, flouride treatments and even molds made for a bite guard. My two other children love going and often give people odd looks when they are asked if they really like going to the dentist.

In addition to biannual checkups I have had multiple crowns and root canal procedures completed by Dr. McCarthy. All have been successful with no problems. He has accurately diagnosed my dental problems and I appreciate his method of offering several solutions of varying cost from which I can make a choice. He once came in on a major holiday to perform an emergency root canal when I was in extreme pain. He and the staff have also been very mindful of TMJ issues especially in the performance of more lengthy procedures. Dr. McCarthy has been my husband and my dentist for over ten years. When we moved to St. Louis we received a referral from a friend and decided to select him as our dentist. The first visit was unlike any other I recall. He did a full exam which included dental history, counting teeth, x-rays, everything. I came back a week or so later to discuss my "dental manifesto" with him. It was a whole write up on my teeth and dental care. Never has a dentist spent this kind of time with me. The real clincher came a couple of years ago when I brought my son in for his first visit. Dr. McCarthy morphs into Dr. Mark (which I call him now too) and gets on the kids' level. He let my son pretend he was raising and lowering the examination chair and just generally let him check the place out. No, he doesn't have a disco ball and TVs on the ceiling, but he doesn't need them because he's really paying attention to the kids.

After putting off finding a dentist in St. Louis for two years, always relying on trips back to my home state of Texas, I finally had to find myself one due to a horrible toothache I'd been having.

Dr. McCarthy's staff was extremely friendly and helpful and they were able to get me in within 24 hours of my call. When the Dr. greeted me we discussed my history as well as my current problem. He was very throrough in his explanation of everything and I felt very comfortable and allowed him to proceed with extracting the problem tooth.

I've always had a negative association with dentists due to the pain that can sometimes be felt sitting in the dreaded dentists chair, however, the process was quick, painless, and I was out the door and back to work within a few hours. He was very honest and did a great job explaining everything that needed to be done. Everything went 100 times better than I had anticipated.

Lastly, Dr. McCarthy's fees are very, very reasonable.

Dr McCarthy's office is #1 I won't tell you how long I was away from the dentist because I was afraid to go , I had a friend at work who just went on and on about Dr McCarthy how pleasant he was and that he was gentle and pain free, so I told her I would give it a try and its the best thing I have done in a long time. Mark X. McCarthy DMD, who has never complained when I call him "Doctor X," is a skilled dentist and a fantastic person who in 18 years has seen me through 4 wisdom teeth extractions, 5 root canals, 8 crowns (and that's all the molars we got), and a few miscellaneous procedures. He is rock-solid. Military service, family, faith, a tremendous education and a talent for artistry make him a complete dentist - he's a guy that could have been a neurosurgeon or a heart surgeon but elected to be a dentist, and I count myself fortunate to have known him this long - I've never had a worry about my teeth, despite a mouthful of childhood fillings when I came to him, and I trust and value his advice completely. Dr. X also keeps a full nitrous cylinder handy when I'm around, although his precision keeps discomfort to a minimum, and his explanations take away (most) trepidation - I'm a classic wimp, but this guy is good. The rest of the staff is good too - they've worked together for years and the office has a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. Unreservedly recommended!

Dr. McCarthy is a great dentist! He is funny, friendly, caring, and most of all an excellent dentist. He's the only dentist I've ever had that, in addition to caring for my teeth, checks the health of my mouth every time I visit. Mark has done fillings, crowns and bonding on a front tooth, all without pain and with excellent results. In early 2007, I ran into a problem with insurance reimbursement which required extraordinary effort from Dr. McCarthy and his staff. They were right in there with me, even going to the post office to mail something overnight to the insurance company. I can't imagine finding a better dentist . . . and whether I'm interacting with Mark, Pat, his assistant, Maggie, who cleans my teeth, or Nancy at the front desk, it's as good as it gets given I'm at the dentist!

Mark and his office staff are exactly what I want in my dentist, and I have been very happy since finding my way to his office. The care is first rate, deeply competent and up-to-the minute in technology and procedures, and Mark is completely honest with me about my dental situation and the possible outcomes. Dr. McCarthy did the implant surgery on my lost tooth. He also did the crown/implant tooth that is now in its place. The procedure couldn't have gone more smoothly, and the healing time was minimal. Now I can chew on both sides, like I used to before I lost my molar.

I have had to have extensive crown work to save my teeth. Dr. Mark and his hygenist, Maggie, have not only given me a brillant smile but it has been accomplished with no pain and exteme caring during each and every procedure. They are highly sensative to all my medical needs in their treatment.

I know every step of the way what is being done at the time of the visit, what can be done in the future, the cost and how long each visit will take. There's no surprise except how easy it is.

I recommend everyone I know to Dr. Mark and his staff. Nancy will make your appointment and you will be seen ON TIME. Pat is Dr. Mark's very caring and knowledged assistant. She works with Dr. Mark effortlessly - (it's as if Mark has 4 hands). Maggie is the best hygenist I have ever had clean my teeth and you leave her office feeling as if you've taken your mouth to a spa!

Dr. McCarthy has appointments at 7 AM which means you can get to the dentist before work and it's so painless, (even if you're having crown work done), you can go right to work after your appointment with no discomfort whatsoever.
